Payments block on Brazilian gambling web-sites
The government of Brazil wants to adopt a new law that will prohibit using e-payments, including credit cards, on gambling web-sites.
The authorities of the country still can’t get the gambling industry to the appropriate level because of problems they experience with adopting two laws. These difficulties don’t permit them to modernize the gambling business in the country, however the government now does everything so that gambling games lovers wouldn’t be able to play online on foreign web-sites.
A research has been conducted, which showed that Brazilians accept online casinos and slots. However, the new draft law says that the gambling industry is impossible to liberalize in the country.
This draft law has to close access for all Brazilians to other foreign web-sites with online slots as they spend about 951 million US dollars on this form of entertainment annually.
The main implementer of the law will be the Central Bank of Brazil. It’s exactly the bank that is in power to control payment systems. The implementation of the new means of control by the government will make it impossible to use any e-payment systems, without which playing online games on foreign web-sites is impossible.
Brazil wants to follow the example of such countries as the USA, France and Australia. It was there that similar legislation was adopted.
Ciro Nogueira, who is a senator in Brazil, came up with the idea of adopting this law. Another senator Roberto Requevian will pass it to the Committee on economic issues and will observe its review.
